Brazilian Taste is recalling over 4,000 pounds of frozen chicken and beef croquettes due to an undeclared sesame allergen and misbranding, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said this week. Newsweek reached out to the company via email on Thursday for comment. Why It Matters Numerous public health alerts and recalls have been issued this year due to the potential for damaged products, foodborne illness, contamination and undeclared food allergens. Millions of Americans experience food sensitivities or allergies every year. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA,) the nine “major” food allergens in the United States are eggs, milk, fish, wheat, soybeans, crustacean shellfish, sesame, tree nuts and peanuts. What To Know According to the alert, the chicken croquettes were produced from March 4 to August 19. The beef croquettes were produced on June 2, 2025. The following products are being recalled: The 17.63-ounce plastic bag packages containing five of the “SAINT COXINHA XL CHICKEN CROQUETTES.” The best-by dates are from November 4, 2025, to April 19, 2026. The 15.8-ounce plastic bag packages containing 15 “SAINT COXINHA CHICKEN CROQUETTES.” The best-by dates are also from November 4, 2025, to April 19, 2026. The 13.7-ounce plastic bag packages of the 13-count “SAINT COXINHA GROUND BEEF CROQUETTE RISOLE DE CARNE.” The product’s best-by date is February 2, 2026. The recalled products were shipped to retailers in Massachusetts, North Carolina, Connecticut, Georgia, South Carolina, Texas, and through online retailers nationwide. The products also have an establishment number of “P-45640” or “Est. 45640,” the alert notes. There have been no reports of adverse reactions related to the recall, per the alert. What People Are Saying The FSIS alert, in part: “The problem was discovered when the Food and Drug Administration notified FSIS that bread crumb ingredients shared between FDA-regulated and FSIS-regulated products produced at the facility contained sesame that may not have been declared on the labels of the FSIS-regulated products.” What Happens Next Customers who have purchased the recalled products are urged to throw them away or return them to the original place of purchase, the alert notes.
