A quiet international break is the perfect time to get stuck into some bigger picture Chelsea talk, and that’s just what Sky Sports’ top dog Kaveh Solhekol has done today. As well as an update on Moises Caicedo’s contract situation, the transfer specialist has looked forward to January, now just a month and a half away. He says that “no major arrivals” at Chelsea are expected next month, which is pretty much what we would have expected. While there’s been a nasty wave of injuries in the early part of the season, we’re definitely through the worst of them and trending in the right direction. There is no need for a panic buy now. “Chelsea will not be signing a goalkeeper, centre back or defensive midfielder despite some fans calling for cover for Romeo Lavia and Dario Essugo, who are both out injured,” Solhekol wrote. Chelsea line up one first team star for January departure He does mention that one player could be sold, however. Tyrique George was very close to a move to Fulham on deadline day, and could complete that move (or a similar one) when the window opens. There are a lot of teams looking for dynamic young attackers who could be tempted. “Chelsea have been pleased with him this season he wants to play regularly and is in demand,” the piece claims. The Fulham move was set to be for around £22m, and we’d expect to get at least that much this time around. In other news… Chelsea are going to give Caicedo a major rise, but it’s going to be done “in private,” presumably so other players don’t get jealous. With Caicedo holding down the defence, Chelsea are making chances but still need a focal point to take shots and put them away – that’s what the stats are telling us, anyway.
