Chef Diane Kochilas brings new cookbook and Greek specialties to Boston

Chef Diane Kochilas — Greek cooking teacher, television host, and authority on Mediterranean cuisine — has written nearly a dozen cookbooks. The host of the PBS series “My Greek Table,” Kochilas has received numerous honors for her work. She was born in New York but was long based in Athens, where the city’s rich culinary culture continues to inspire her, and she blends Greek tradition with a modern, healthful sensibility. Now she’s adding another book to her collection: “Athens: Food, Stories, Love: A Cookbook.” Part memoir, part culinary love letter, her storytelling and the photography capture the heart of Athens — the street scenes, the people, and of course, the food. Blending recipes with the history and traditions behind them, it’s a delightful book to cook from, but also one for culinary armchair travelers. Advertisement The book debuts on Oct. 28, and Kochilas will be in Boston from Oct. 27-30 participating in events each day. On Monday, Oct. 27, from 6-7:30 p.m., come to Time Out Market Boston (401 Park Drive). Mingle over light bites inspired by the cookbook, sip cocktails, and take home a signed copy after a Q&A with the author. $70.18. On Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 6:30 at Maliotis Cultural Center, Hellenic College Holy Cross (50 Goddard Ave., Brookline), join Kochilas for a cooking demo, talk, and book signing. $23.18. Reserve both events on eventbrite.com. For an immersive experience, come to Trade on Wednesday, Oct. 29, where Chef Alavee Hassan and the Trade team will serve a three-course menu with Greek wine pairings. Arrive at 6 p.m. for passed meze and drinks; dinner begins at 7 p.m. The cost is $189.72 per person, with reservations available on opentable.com (540 Atlantic Ave., Boston).
