Charlie Kirk's Turning Point USA Hosting Rival Halftime Show Amid Controversy

The backlash to Bad Bunny’s upcoming Super Bowl halftime show has been heard and now, he’s getting some competition.
Turning Point USA, the conservative nonprofit co-founded by the late Charlie Kirk and now led by his widow, Erika Kirk, announced Thursday, October 9 that it will stage a competing concert during Super Bowl LX, calling it “The All American Halftime Show.”
In a post via X, the organization said it was “thrilled to announce The All American Halftime Show,” linking to a website where fans can sign up for updates. While the event’s location and performers have not been revealed, the site promises a show celebrating “values, faith, and freedom.”
One detail quickly drew attention online, under a survey section asking fans what kind of music they prefer, one option reads: “Anything in English.”
The announcement follows uproar over the NFL’s decision to name Bad Bunny, 31, who primarily performs in Spanish, as the 2025 Super Bowl halftime headliner. The Puerto Rican superstar’s selection has divided audiences, with some praising the move as inclusive and others blasting it as un-American.
Among the critics was President Donald Trump, who dismissed the choice during a Newsmax interview on Monday, October 6.
“I never heard of him,” Trump said. “I don’t know who he is, I don’t know why they’re doing it — it’s crazy. And then they blame it on some promoter that they hired to pick up entertainment. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem also weighed in on Friday, October 3, telling conservative host Benny Johnson that ICE “will be all over the place” at the Super Bowl.
“I have the responsibility for making sure everybody who goes to the Super Bowl has the opportunity to enjoy it and to leave, and that’s what America’s about,” Noem said. “So yeah, we’ll be all over that place. We’re going to enforce the law.”
She added, “People should not be coming to the Super Bowl unless they’re law-abiding Americans who love this country.”
Noem went even further, taking aim at the NFL itself, saying, “They suck. God will bless us and we’ll stand and be proud of ourselves at the end of the day … and they’re so weak, we’ll fix it.”
Former Super Bowl halftime performer Jennifer Lopez took the other side of the debate on the TODAY show on Monday.
“He’s one of the top artists in the world right now, probably the top,” Lopez said.
“It could be a lot of different people, “ she added. That’s the thing. I’m super excited for people to see himI think they’ll be pleasantly surprised because his music transcends language.“It’s amazing what he’s done. He’s done something that a lot of people have never done in their life. I’m so excited for him. I was excited when he performed with us at the Super Bowl and I’m excited to see what he does. He puts on a great show. He’s an amazing entertainer.”
Bad Bunny appeared unbothered by the criticism during his Saturday Night Live monologue on October 4.
“I’m very happy, and I think everyone is happy about it, even Fox News!” he joked, before switching to Spanish and adding with a grin, “If you didn’t understand what I just said, you have four months to learn.”
The Grammy winner will perform the Super Bowl halftime show on February 8 in New Orleans, while Turning Point USA’s rival “All American Halftime Show” is expected to announce its lineup in the coming weeks.
