Charlie Kirk, the right-wing American political conservative, was shot dead and killed on September 10 on the Utah Valley University campus. His death has captured the nation’s attention and stunned the US. His parents Robert W. Kirk and Kathryn Kirk have stayed out of the spotlight after their son was assassinated during a Turning Point event in Utah.Charlie Kirk was the architect of Turning Point USA, the conservative group he founded with “tea party” activist Bill Montgomery in 2012. He was also a close ally to President Donald Trump and was credited with boosting turnout for the president in the 2024 election. Kirk was an architect who helped design Trump Tower – the US president’s New York City skyscraper, as per a report in Tyla. Charlie Kirk’s mother is a mental health counselor and his father is an architect whose firm designed Trump Tower in New York. Kirk’s parents are conservative but not particularly involved in politics, he told The Atlantic in 2015. Kirk’s parents were initially unhappy that he wanted to skip college to launch his political organization, and he asked for 90 days to prove them wrong. He launched Turning Point from their home at age 18 in 2012. Kirk’s father came up with the name Turning Point USA, according to the Times. When GOP donor Foster Friess sent Kirk an early $10,000 check, it landed in the mailbox at Kirk’s parents’ home. One of the most notable moments in his career was his reported role as project architect manager for Trump Tower, establishing a connection between the families long before his son entered politics.The publication reported that other notable work of Robert’s included the Tropicana Hotel and Casino, located in Atlantic City. Kirk’s parents stayed out of the limelight while their son was rapidly rising to fame. Kirk also left behind his wife Erika, who he tied the knot with in 2021, and their two young children – a daughter born in August 2022 and a son born in May 2024.During his funeral, Erika, who has been appointed Turning Point USA’s new CEO, said in the midst of her grief, she was finding comfort that her husband left this world without regrets.
