Cornerstone Chapel in Virginia near Washington, D.C., is among one of thousands of churches visited around the world in his short life.
During his 31 years, he encouraged Christians to rise up and get involved with government and local politics to ensure freedom based on Biblical truth.
No matter how good of a life you live, no matter how many boxes you check off, we are all in need of the sacrifice and gift that is Jesus Christ,” Kirk said. “And if you if you accept Jesus into your life, you will be made a new person. You will be born again. And if you do that, you will be able to enter into eternal life with Jesus Christ. It is the most important decision you can make in your life.”
Kirk was supposed to speak at a conference with , who is the lead pastor of Cornerstone in Tennessee.
The conference, which is set for Friday, will go on as scheduled in honor and memory of Kirk’s life and legacy.
Pastor Gary said he admired Kirk for his love of God, as well as the U.S. He said he and Kirk shared that in common.
We both just have a deep love for America, and we have a deep love for Jesus and His word,” Pastor Gary told The National News Desk’s Jan Jeffcoat during a one-on-one interview Wednesday morning. “And we want people to understand the saving grace of Jesus Christ and that was exactly Charlie’s heart. That’s my heart, and so that’s why we first connected. He came to our church just to share that balance between, you know, what can we do with our faith to influence the world to make a difference in our culture?”
The pastor added that Kirk’s Biblical views shaped his political views, which both challenged cultural views.
“That’s a good thing for America,” he said, adding that Kirk’s growth in his faith is the reason Kirk started founded Turning Point USA.
“He wanted to also integrate his faith with his political views because he saw that those two things were inextricably linked,” the pastor added. “In other words, our faith should shape our values, our faith should shape our views, and for Charlie, that’s how it worked.”
