Charleston locals share the best, meals, shows and exhibits

I don’t know about you, but we are always curious what the industry pros are up to in Charleston. Our city offers an endless array of concerts, exhibitions and culinary experiences, so it’s nice to get tips on where to go and what to see from a Charlestonian in-the-know.
For this column, we’re taking a look at what locals have been up to lately — recent events they’ve attended, movies they’ve seen, meals they’ve eaten, concerts they’ve loved and more entertainment-related experiences they’ve had.
This week we hear from Maggie Jordan, exhibition and studio director at Redux Contemporary Art Center, which has been a staple in Charleston’s collaborative arts world since its founding in 2002.
Here’s what she’s been enjoying lately.
What music artists have you been listening to? Music is always random in my world. I saw Beyoncé this summer, and the attention to detail and the production was amazing. I’ve been listening to Black Sabbath, Jungle, Idles, the Pixies and Doechii.
What’s the best movie you’ve seen? I’ve been on an Italian cinema kick. Recently I rewatched Federico Fellini’s “8 1/2.” I’m obsessed.
What was the best Charleston performance you’ve attended? I saw Kishi Bashi perform in the Spoleto Festival at the Cistern. It was magical! Nothing has topped that for a while. I always love checking out the lineup for the Firefly Distillery shows. That is one of my favorite venues. I saw Coheed and Cambria there in May, and it was great.
