Chad Michael Murray brought out a very special guest during his appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show. On Wednesday, November 5, the show shared a clip via Instagram of Murray, 44, introducing his daughter Audrey, 8, whom he shares with wife Sarah Roemer. (His full interview will hit YouTube on Monday, November 10.) “You know what, she’s ready,” he told host Drew Barrymore after she asked him if his daughter could come out and say hello. “My sweet little daughter, no one ever really gets to meet her, but she’s ready.” The little girl came out and hugged her dad before giving Barrymore, 50, a squeeze. “My name’s Audrey,” she announced before sharing that her favorite food is mac and cheese and that she’s a big K-Pop Demon Hunters fan. (Although, she “lost interest on her 300th time” watching it.) She did warn the audience, however, to stream the Netflix animated movie “or I’ll haunt your nightmares.” Murray and Roemer, who tied the knot in 2015, also share a son born in 2015 and another daughter born in 2023. They have been adamant about protecting their children’s privacy over the years but did walk the red carpet with Audrey and their son in July at the Freakier Friday premiere. While talking to E! News at the event, Murray admitted Audrey seems to be interested in pursuing an acting career — just like her parents. (Roemer, 41, starred in movies The Grudge 2 and Disturbia, as well as the TV show The Event.) “I have a feeling she’ll be on one of these carpets pretty soon,” Murray said of his eldest daughter. “It’s just where she’s destined to be, but she had that [celebrity] moment [with Lindsay Lohan]. It’s weird, the people you watch in movies, to see them in real life.” The One Tree Hill alum took a brief break from the spotlight after welcoming his kids but has since enjoyed a renaissance of sorts, appearing in Mother of the Bride, The Merry Gentlemen and Freakier Friday, as well as the successful TV series Sullivan’s Crossing. He noted to Parade in July that he stopped doing “dark work” because playing more sinister characters led him to “carry that energy” back home. “So right now, I think for me, it’s like the idea of doing something in the Sonic the Hedgehog world [of] movies, Harold and the Purple Crayon or something about the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus for right now,” Murray said of his current dream projects. “Stuff where, who knows? My kids will watch it and be like, ‘OK, Dad’s kind of cool.’” As for how he balances fatherhood and his career, Murray said it’s all about a deal he made with Roemer. “When Sarah and I got together, we made a little pact that we would keep ‘The Pack’ together no matter what we are going to do,” he explained, referring to his family’s nickname. “If she wants to go to work, great, I’ll take off, and I’ll travel, and I’ll watch the kids and vice versa.” He added: “That was the deal that we made. We didn’t want to spend time apart because I wanted to have kids, and I wanted to be a father. I wanted to be dad. I wanted to be right there. I didn’t want kids to then just miss six months of their life.” In her show’s preview clip, Barrymore praised Murray for always being a gentleman. “Your dad is such a good man,” she told Audrey before hugging the actor.
