Cha Eun-woo may be serving in the military right now, but his fans have a reason to be excited. The actor will soon be seen in his upcoming film The First Ride, directed by Nam Dae-joong. The movie tells the story of a group of friends whose dream trip quickly turns into a series of funny, chaotic and action-filled moments. Even during his service, the actor shared his thoughts about the project and his character, Yeon Min. He said he was instantly interested in the film because of its lighthearted story and enjoyable script. Since he has always liked comedy, he wanted to take the role that felt both fun and refreshing. He also shared that working with a talented cast made the experience even more special. Why Cha Eun-woo Chose The First Ride In a conversation with All K Pop, Cha Eun-woo, revealing why he agreed to do The First Ride, said, “After meeting director Nam Dae Joong and having several conversations, I felt drawn to the project. I personally enjoy the comedy genre and wanted to take on the challenge. Above all, the script was genuinely funny, and I thought it would be a joy to work with the other actors, so I decided to join” “The script includes a lot of Yeon Min’s narration, from start to finish, really, so I did feel a bit of pressure. But it was also fascinating. I liked how the story begins from Yeon Min’s observer’s perspective, which felt fresh. The film as a whole captures the youth of these five friends, and it reminded me a lot of my own younger, more innocent days,” the actor added. Sharing details about his character, Cha Eun-woo mentioned that Yeon Min is a shy and reserved person who doesn’t open up easily. But when he’s around his close friends, a “quirky” side of him comes out. Even though he’s not very outgoing, he has big dreams and wants to become a well-known DJ someday. Cha Eun-woo Talks About His Experience Working With The Cast While talking about his time with the cast, Cha Eun-woo shared that he had always “admired” Kang Ha-neul and had even watched one of his stage plays before they worked together. The First Ride was the first time they actually got to share screen together. Eun-woo said Ha-neul always brought good energy on the set by greeting and making everyone feel comfortable. Along with being a senior actor, he saw Ha-neul as a caring friend and older brother who often suggested fun ideas to improve their scenes. Eun-woo, talking about Kim Young-kwang, said that they had met years ago when he was just twenty on the show Law of the Jungle. Because of that, working together again felt easy and natural. He then called Kang Young-seok, who plays Geum Bok, one of the funniest people on set. In the movie, his character goes through various funny looks, wearing a wig, and later shaving his head after becoming a monk. Eun-woo said Young Seok’s fun nature kept everyone laughing Cha Eun-woo starrer The First Ride is scheduled to release on October 29.
