According to Code Sports, the 34-year-old informed the network on Friday morning that he has agreed to a lucrative offer with rival network Channel 7. It has been reported that Seven’s head of sport, Chris Jones and SEN boss Craig Hutchison were behind the successful poaching attempt, which will see Morris join an already stacked roster of top footy talent. But Morris is not expected to have a major on-air role, with Channel 7’s Mitch Cleary remaining as the network’s chief footy reporter. However, he, along with Xander McGuire, who was recently also poached from Nine, and Cleary, will make a formidable trio. It is just the latest in a string of major coups for Seven, who also lured Kane Cornes away from Nine before the 2024 AFL season. Morris is understood to have been convinced to jump ship due to Channel 7 having the broadcast rights to both the footy and cricket. He has been with Nine since January 2024.
