Celtic manager odds as treble winning boss named as favourite should Brendan Rodgers leave

Ange Postecoglou has been tipped with a shock return to Celtic Park as Brendan Rodgers finds himself under pressure after a wretched start to the season. The Hoops fell to a 2-0 defeat to Dundee on Sunday , a defeat which leaves the defending champions languishing five points behind leaders Hearts with just eight games played. Celtic's slow start to the league season has been compounded by poor performances in Europe. The Scottish giants failed to qualify for the league stage of the Champions League, and have been poor in the Europa League, picking up just one point from their first two games. These performances have put head coach Brendan Rodgers under massive pressure. The Northern Irishman's contract is up at the end of the season, and if results continue in this vain, he may not even fulfill his full term as boss. With all this in mind, former boss Postecoglou has emerged as favourite to return to the hotseat in Glasgow. Gambling.com, who specialise in sports betting and casino reviews and recommendations' , have Postecoglou priced at 6/4 to be the next Celtic manager after Rodgers, with a 40% likelihood that he returns to Celtic. Postecoglou, who was sacked by Nottingham Forest on Saturday after just 39 days in charge, isn't the only man being linked with the job, as former Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzic has been priced at 3/1, with Irish duo Damien Duff (7/1) and Robbie Keane (8/1) also in the frame should Rodgers leave. Speaking after Sunday's loss at Dundee - their first loss there in 37 years - Rodgers lamented his squad's lack of firepower. "Listen, it’s not all linear and all smooth right the way through the season. That’s for sure. "I think the challenge from the summer, now leading into here, where we lost a lot of firepower, a lot of goals out on the team. "And there’s no way you’ll go into a race and be given the keys to a Honda Civic and say, 'I want you to drive it like a Ferrari’. It’s not going to happen. "So until something changes, I have to find the solutions. Because like I said, goals, speed, everything has come out of the team and we need to find a way to be better. "It was clear in the summer, but it’s really the past now. There’s nothing we can do about it. "We had the opportunities to do what we needed to do. It didn’t happen, so now it’s finding ways, whether it’s 4-3-3, whether it’s 3-4-3, whether it’s 3-5-2. We’re trying to look at all these different permutations within the team."
