The popular BBC series sees four teams of two tasked with journeying across Central and South America, with no mobile phones to help them and a limited budget. This season sees radio DJ Roman Kemp joined by his sister Harleymoon, while presenter Anita Rani teamed up with her father Bal. Engaged couple Molly Rainford and Tyler West are also competing, while rounding out the group is Derry Girls star Dylan Llewellyn and his mother Jackie. All four teams kicked off their race in Isla Mujeres in the Caribbean Sea and had to make their way to Colombia's Península de La Guajira, 5,900km away. Anita and Bal made their way to the first checkpoint easily, getting their a full 23 hours earlier than everyone else. Celebrity Race Across the World fans have already chosen their 'favourite contestants' as the third season premiered on Thursday night Engaged couple Molly Rainford and Tyler West are also competing, while rounding out the group is Derry Girls star Dylan Llewellyn and his mother Jackie (seen) They were followed by Roman and Harleymoon, who narrowly inched out Molly and Tyler, despite by their bus breaking down. However, Dylan and Jackie ended up in fourth place, a whopping 29 hours and 36 minutes behind frontrunners Anita and Bal. But while they were last in the race, they proved themselves top in viewers' hearts, as fans took to social media to call them 'everyone's winners'. They praised the mother-and-son's relaxed approach to the competition, which saw the pair spend 20 percent of their entire budget in the first leg alone, on high-speed trains and a delicious taco dinner. And despite splashing the cash, the duo were still slower than everyone else as they took the time to enjoy the stunning sights and hilariously tried to book a room at a hospital to stay overnight. Fans took to X to brand them 'team tortoise' and joke that the pair thought were on a family holiday, as they quipped: 'Captain Tom would've lapped Dylan and his mum by now.' They tweeted: 'Love Dylan & his mum - so laid back & great attitude to the whole experience'; 'Dylan and his mum must be a week behind by now'. Fans took to X to brand them 'team tortoise' and joke that the pair thought were on a family holiday, as they quipped: 'Captain Tom would've lapped Dylan and his mum by now' Speaking ahead of the race, Dylan admitted that he and Jackie weren't expecting to come out top of the competition, but hoped the experience would help both of them be more confident. He said: 'If we won the race, I think a lot of people would be surprised - including us. I don't think anyone thinks we're going to win.' Jackie went on: 'So there's no pressure! Usually when the pressure's off in sport, one can do well.' Dylan added: 'I'm quite shy and awkward. I like to stay in, do some gaming. I hope this experience will change me with my confidence, maybe even my mum with her confidence.'
