CCTV Shows Maharashtra Woman Doctor Checked Into Hotel Alone On Night Of Her Suicide

CCTV footage from a hotel in Satara, Maharashtra, has revealed that the 28-year-old woman doctor, who died suicide last week, had checked into the lodge alone on the night of her death. The video, released by the hotel owner, contradicts claims by some political leaders that the incident could have been a murder disguised as suicide. The footage shows the doctor entering the hotel on her own and completing the check-in shortly after leaving the residence of Prashant Bankar, a software engineer, where she had reportedly attended a Lakshmi Puja that evening. फलटणमधील डॉक्टर तरुणीचा हॉटेलमधील CCTV फुटेज समोर#maharashtra #phaltan #Satara #SataraNews #PhaltanCase #SataraNews #CCTV #SataraPolice pic.twitter.com/aHnP1JJOSW — Mahaenews (@mahae_news) October 29, 2025 The release of the CCTV clips came after Sushma Andhare, a senior leader of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) faction, questioned whether the doctor had voluntarily entered the hotel and hinted at possible coercion. The hotel owner provided the video to police, stating that no one accompanied the doctor at the time of her arrival. The doctor, who worked at a government hospital in Satara and hailed from Beed district, was found dead in her hotel room on the night of October 23. She had written a suicide note on her palm, accusing Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Gopal Badane of rape and Bankar of prolonged mental harassment. Following her death, both Badane and Bankar were arrested. Police are continuing their investigation into the case. Officials have reported that PSI Badane has not yet handed over his mobile phone, which could be crucial evidence. The suspended officer is being questioned about the device, which may help clarify the events leading up to the doctor’s death. Meanwhile, Bankar, whose custody ended recently, was produced before a Satara district court, which extended his police custody by two more days. Investigators are also examining other evidence to establish the sequence of events and determine whether anyone else may have been involved. (With inputs from agencies)
