Cause of death revealed for young ‘9-1-1: Nashville’ actress

Officials have determined cause of death for a young actress who died just days after appearing in a new ABC show. Isabelle Tate, who played a supporting role in the premiere of 9-1-1: Nashville, died from a rare form of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a neurological disorder that damages peripheral nerves, leading to muscle weakness, atrophy, and sensory loss in the legs and arms. Kim McCray, founder of The McCray Agency, confirmed the news to Entertainment Weekly in an email, noting that Tate “passed away peacefully.” A 2022 Instagram post said Tate had been diagnosed with a “progressive neuromuscular disease” when she was 13. She explained that the condition “weakens my leg muscles over time,” causing her to need to use a wheelchair at times. Tate, 23, played an attendee at a bachelorette party that was involved in an accident in the first episode of 9-1-1: Nashville on Oct. 9. The series is the second spin-off of the 9-1-1 franchise, following 9-1-1: Lone Star. It follows the lives of emergency responders—including firefighters, paramedics, and police officers—as they face life-threatening situations. The family asks that donations in Izzy’s memory be made to the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association in Tate’s name.
