Caught On Cam: Delhi Police Attacked With Bricks, Sticks While Trying To Nab Criminal

A Delhi Police team was attacked by a mob in South Delhi’s Fatherpur Beri area when they went to arrest a wanted criminal. The incident, which was also caught on camera, shows people attacking the constables with bricks and sticks.
The incident took place on Tuesday when a police team had gone to Chandan Hola village to arrest a man identified as Azam. A non-bailable warrant had already been issued against him.
A video of the incident shows a chaotic street scene involving a crowd gathered around a black SUV. Several people were seen attacking a police official, including women. One of the officials was seen lying on the ground as the mob thrashed him.

As the officials tried to arrest him, Azam allegedly resisted and, along with some of his relatives, launched a violent assault on the officials.

In another clip, an attacker can be seen breaking away from the scuffle and running away as officers try to restrain him.
Other videos also show several men clashing with the police team on a village road.

The incident has left several officials injured.

According to a Delhi Police officer, two constables have been injured, and the officials have detained some people in connection with the matter.
Azam had previously had a scuffle with police, after which the police team had gone to arrest him.

According to the FIR, some from the mob even bit a few police personnel during the scuffle. A complaint has also been filed based on the statements of the injured officials against Azam and others involved in the assault. A search operation has been launched to track down the accused men.
The FIR has been filed under section 221 (obstructing a public servant), section 132 (assault on a public servant), section 121(1) (causing hurt to deter a public servant), section 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), section 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and section 3(5) (common intention liability) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Azam managed to escape in the midst of the attack while his family members also scattered into narrow lanes of the villages after the assault.
