Cartagena celebrates inclusion with Autumn program for all

CARTAGENA has launched a new program of activities for people with disabilities, running until December. The City Council is working with local associations to make sure everyone can take part and feel included. Activities designed for everyone The program brings together a wide range of events, from inclusive workshops and creative activities to cultural tours and school projects. People can join clay and craft sessions, an accessible museum, and paleontology tours, as well as programs that encourage teamwork and awareness about disability. New activities this term include workshops for people with multiple sclerosis and a recycling project focused on the marine environment. These sessions aim to promote creativity, personal growth, and environmental awareness while helping participants connect with others in the community. Promoting accessibility and awareness Cartagena has been steadily improving accessibility across its cultural and leisure facilities. Museums, public buildings, and tourist spaces are increasingly equipped with ramps, adapted signage, and guided tours designed for people with different needs. The City Council also works closely with educational centres to promote awareness about disability among younger generations. Schools are encouraged to take part in inclusive programs that teach empathy, understanding, and cooperation from an early age. Celebrating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities The program wraps up with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 1–3. The celebrations include inclusive sports, music, and magic shows, and performances that give everyone a chance to take part. These events highlight the importance of breaking down barriers and recognising the abilities of all people. It’s also a way to celebrate diversity and show how inclusion enriches community life. A city that welcomes everyone The goal is simple: make sure everyone in Cartagena has a space to join in, enjoy themselves, and be part of the community. This ongoing commitment to accessibility reflects a wider effort to make the city welcoming for residents and visitors alike.
