Key Points Carol Burnett, 92, attended the "Pluribus" premiere with husband Brian Miller. Burnett questioned why SNL's Lorne Michaels never invited her to host. She confirmed she’s no longer interested in hosting SNL, saying, “that ship has sailed.” Carol Burnett is 92 and glowing. The titan of comedy, who broke boundaries and created endless belly laughs with her timeless comedy series The Carol Burnett Show, which ran from 1967 to 1978 on CBS, hit the red carpet alongside her husband Brian Miller to celebrate the premiere of the new Apple TV+ series Pluribus. The science fiction drama, created by groundbreaking Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, stars Better Call Saul alum Rhea Seehorn as Carol Sturka, a best-selling romance author whose life is upended when a virus spreads across New Mexico. Looking lovely in a black turtleneck and peach-colored blazer, Burnett, who returns for season 2 of the Apple TV+ series Palm Royale this month, stopped with her husband to pose for several photos for the press. The piece noted that Michaels declined to comment in response. The piece continued, explaining that Burnett is an icon to many of the stars who have come to prominence on SNL. When Burnett presented Amy Poehler with a lifetime achievement award at Variety’s Power of Women event last year, Poehler made it clear how grateful she is to Burnett for forging a path before her. “I wanted to thank my mother, the mother,” Poehler said, adding, “ ‘S.N.L.’ owes everything to you.” The closest Burnett came to hosting was making a brief appearance in a 1985 segment when host Harry Anderson shouted her out, the piece notes. While Burnett openly questioned what she did to upset Michaels, she made it clear she wouldn’t be interested in hosting SNL anytime soon. Back in 2019, she confirmed that the window had closed.
