Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals lost their Week 5 match-up to the Tennessee Titans 22-21. It’s the Cardinals’ third straight loss, giving them a 2-3 record, going into a Week 6 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.
Murray was far from impressive against the Titans, completing 23-of-31 passes for 220 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions. However, he did rush for 25 yards and one touchdown.
Going up against the 4-1 Colts, though, presents the Cardinals with an opportunity to knock down a team that’s started the 2025 season hot. However, Murray’s availability for Week 6 is now being questioned after a troubling update.
On Wednesday, while talking to reporters, head coach Jonathan Gannon revealed Kyler Murray will not be practicing because of a foot injury.
Gannon said Murray will “take it day by day,” according to CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones.
Murray, the former No. 1 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, has put up decent numbers to start the 2025 season. Through five games, he’s thrown for 962 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions while completing 68.3% of passes.
He may not be playing like an MVP candidate, but if Arizona were to lose him for even one game, it would be a major loss.
Up next on the Cardinals’ depth chart is 10th-year veteran Jacoby Brissett. He’s a solid backup option with a lot of experience and 53 career starts. However, he’s still a considerable step down from Murray, a two-time Pro Bowler.
Kickoff between the Cardinals and Colts is Sunday at 1 p.m. ET at Lucas Oil Stadium, airing on FOX.
