Senior figures from Renfrewshire Council visited a key industrial estate to view recent developments and discuss future plans aimed at strengthening the area’s economic position. Council leader Iain Nicolson was joined by Councillor Jim Paterson and Alasdair Morrison, the local authority’s head of economy and development, during a site tour hosted by Canmoor at Westway. The visit highlighted the completion of several new developments at the estate which is emerging as a hub for industries including renewables, logistics and defence. Representatives from Canmoor shared their vision for continued investment in the area – aimed at attracting further business and job opportunities. Council chiefs also outlined their economic priorities and discussed ways the local authority can support businesses and investors to drive long-term growth across the region. Gregor King, Canmoor’s director in Scotland, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome councillors Nicolson and Paterson and Mr Morrison to Westway. “The visit was a great opportunity to demonstrate the scale of investment being committed to the estate and to showcase our recent, highly-successful developments. “In particular, we were able to share our vision for the site including numerous new development opportunities and discuss how we can work with the council to continue attracting investment and supporting job creation in the area.” Council leader Nicolson added: “It’s fantastic to have sites such as Westway based in Renfrewshire, particularly within the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland (AMIDS), as they provide jobs, attract investment and represent the long-term vision we have for Renfrewshire and its economy. “Canmoor have already delivered high-quality developments here that have attracted world-leading businesses and its future plans are a real opportunity to grow the Renfrewshire economy and create job opportunities for local people now and in the future. “It was great to visit the site to see firsthand the scale of opportunity and to discuss how the council could help Canmoor create the right conditions for growth.” Canmoor remains committed to driving forward the growth of Westway, ensuring it continues to deliver high-quality facilities, attract new businesses and play a leading role in the economy of the Renfrewshire and the west of Scotland.
