FOUR KEYS
1. Chess match: OU coach Brent Venables will try to confound his former quarterback, Jackson Arnold, with disguises and blitzes from the Sooners’ defense. Will Arnold be ready for it and can Auburn coach Hugh Freeze help him through it?
2. Run run Blaylock: Oklahoma found success running the ball against Temple last week by featuring freshman Tory Blaylock as the lead back. Auburn has been stingy against the run but OU will look to further establish the ground game to start SEC play.
3. Ready to roll?: This is the moment OU quarterback John Mateer has been waiting for. If he’s going to stick it to the people who slept on him in high school and establish himself in the SEC, it starts with Auburn.
4. Testing the secondary: OU’s defensive backs will face their biggest challenge yet against Auburn’s star receivers, but the back end of Auburn’s defense may also be susceptible to leakage.
