The Criminal Justice Research and Planning Unit is preparing to lead a national effort to confront youth crime and drug use through a public health approach. Director Cheryl Willoughby says the research released this week provides a blueprint for urgent collaboration among government agencies, NGOs, and community stakeholders. With the findings from its latest inmate study now in hand, the Criminal Justice Research and Planning Unit says Barbados must move beyond talk and take coordinated national action. She says it is time to make the streets safer.
