California earthquake shakes San Francisco, Berkeley; many say ‘entire home shook, knocked out of bed’

The Bay Area of California was shaken by a magnitude 4.3 earthquake overnight, according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was just east-southeast of Berkeley, the survey said and it happened shortly before 3 am PDT. Tremors were felt across California, including in San Francisco, according to the US Geological Survey. The earthquake rattled parts of California and residents said they were woken by the strong tremors, according to the US Sun. The quake struck around one mile southeast of Berkeley and had a depth of around 4.8 miles. Residents report sharp shakeMany people reported feeling a sharp shake and phone alerts going off. It wasn’t immediately known if there were any injuries or significant damage. It was initially recorded as a 4.6 magnitude tremor, but later revised down. There was a green alert for shaking-related fatalities and economic losses.”There is a low likelihood of casualties and damage,” the USGS said. Social media users living in the area said it was the strongest earthquake they had felt for a long time, as per NewsWeek.The area is close to the San Andreas Fault, a source of major earthquakes. Gotta love Mondays.” “That fckn earthquake woke me up and I can’t go back to sleep,” another complained. “Woke me right tf up at 3am,” a third one said.Many residents complained they were unable to go back to sleep after the earthquake. Some claimed the earthquake caused their “entire” home to shake. Light tremors were felt in Sacramento – around 90 miles from San Francisco, according to the USGS.
