Sam Darnold is playing as well as he did a year ago, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba is making a case to be the best receiver in the league. The Mariners are sending George Kirby (10-8, 4.21 ERA) to the bump in Game 7, while the Blue Jays counter with Shane Bieber (4-2, 3.57 ERA). Kirby struggled in Game 3 of the ALCS, giving up eight runs in four innings while Bieber allowed just two runs in six innings. However, Kirby did give Seattle five strong innings in Game 5 of the ALDS against the Tigers.
