After months of delays, The Wagsters Magic Theatre is now open in a new, larger venue in the High Street area.
Brandon and Hannah Wagster, owners of the Williamsburg theater, performed a sold-out show for the first time in their new space in July and say they’re eagerly anticipating their upcoming holiday productions.
“I was choking back tears after our first show here because we finally made it,” Brandon Wagster said.
The couple first opened their theater to great fanfare in a space off Olde Towne Road behind Williamsburg Premium Outlets in June 2022 but quickly outgrew the space. They announced plans to relocate to High Street in the fall of 2024 and have been working since then to open in the new venue.
“It’s been a labor of love,” Hannah Wagster said. “There’s a lot more we can do here.”
The new theater has room for 125 guests and is more than double the square footage of their previous spot. A larger backstage area also enabled the Wagsters to expand their magic show into two acts with bigger props.
“Even if you’ve seen the show, if you haven’t seen the show in the new theater, then you haven’t seen it,” Brandon Wagster said. “It’s a whole new experience. We think this is the best version of our show and it is only going to get better.”
The new location also includes an expanded gift shop and concessions area, along with a private lounge that will eventually be available for rent for birthday parties and other functions. Brandon Wagster hopes to bring back his more intimate, close-up show, while the couple hopes to add other productions, including a sensory-friendly show, fundraising events for local charities and other holiday performances beyond Christmas.
“We want to give people multiple reasons to keep coming back to see us throughout the year,” Hannah Wagster said.
The Wagsters Magic Theatre is located at 1430 High St., Suite 202. Tickets are on sale now for their Christmas show. For more information, visit williamsburgmagic.com.
Veteran opens SYNERGY HomeCare franchise in Williamsburg
Army veteran Dr. Felix P. Gbee and his wife, Sabita, recently opened a location of SYNERGY HomeCare on McLaws Circle. It is the third location of SYNERGY HomeCare for the couple, who also operate offices in Leesburg and Great Falls in Northern Virginia.
“After the military, I wanted to have a service-oriented business, one that would allow me to serve my community,” Gbee said. “I was drawn to SYNERGY HomeCare primarily because of their commitment to serving veterans and their reputation. The values of SYNERGY HomeCare align with some of my values, which is why I like the company.”
The home care business has more than 220 locations in the United States. The company provides a variety of non-medical, in-home services including personal care, companion care, memory care and specialized care for those who live with physical or developmental disabilities and chronic health conditions or are recovering from illness or surgery.
“SYNERGY HomeCare is about service: service to God, country and family,” Gbee said. “We have a quote that is posted in our offices that says ‘Unless you lose yourself to the service of others, your life has little meaning.’ We live out this quote in everything that we do and that’s what makes us unique. If each of us commits to doing one good deed every day, we will leave the world a better place.”
The business is located at 460 McLaws Circle, Suite 150. For more information, visit synergyhomecare.com/va-williamsburg-23185.
