A Pittsburgh bar and immersive experience emporium is introducing the nation's first toss game with pyrotechnics. MILLVALE — Tejo, a game of precision and adrenaline in which players hurl steel discs at gunpowder-filled targets, is well-known as Columbia's national pastime. Now a version of the game is making its debut in the Pittsburgh area. Under the name of Bombhole, a modernized version of Tejo is making its U.S. debut in Millvale's Playground Dropout, which offers immersive group entertainment such as axe throwing, a game show studio and Pennsylvania's only bar-style curling experience played on a real ice rink. Bombhole players toss weighted balls at specially engineered targets that erupt with safe bursts of flame and sound when struck. Bombhole has automatic ball returns to keep play fast, as well as live hosts and digital leader boards. “There’s something primal about Tejo: the boom, the cheers, the chaos,” Bombhole creator and Playground Dropout partner Corey Deasy said. “I wanted to capture that same adrenaline and re-engineer it into something you can safely play in a bar. Bombhole isn’t just inspired by Tejo, it’s an American original that brings the explosion without the danger.” Playground Dropout has begun hosting free early-access test groups. The official launch will occur on Nov. 21.
