Builsa North Rejoice Over Afoko’s ‘Return’ To NPP

A strong wind of excitement is blowing across the New Patriotic Party in Sandema and many parts of the Builsa North Municipality in the Upper East Region following the official announcement of Paul Awentami Afoko’s decision to contest for the Chairmanship of the New Patriotic Party. The Builsa North Municipal Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party, Derrick Abakisi, who disclosed this to the Daily Guide in Bolgatanga, said the excitement is expected to spread wider as the days go by, and the information spread wider, because, Paul Awentami Afoko is loved across the municipality beyond his political affiliation. Derrick Abakisi said: “We have been wishing for this announcement for some time now. …you know, Paul Afoko was once a National Chairman, a position he genuinely won, but he did not get the opportunity to serve his full term and to implement his vision. If the party gives him the nod again, I believe strongly that Paul Afoko will be able to implement his vision that was trancated some years ago.” According to Mr. Abakisi, Mr. Afoko deserves another opportunity, to serve as the National Chairman, to lead the New Patriotic Party with his vast experience in politics and business. On October 28, 2025, the office Paul Awentami Afoko issued a statement signed by Mr. Afoko to announce his intention to contest for the National Chairman position of the New Patriotic Party. In the year 2014, Paul Awentami Afoko was duly elected the National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party at the Alhaji Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale, but could not finish his four term. Mr. Afoko in the statement issued by his office, said: “My commitment to the NPP has remained steadfast through the years, and I believe the time has come to contribute, once again, to the rebuilding and strengthening of our Party at this critical juncture. While the journey has not been without its trials, I have always chosen to prioritise the unity and progress of the NPP above all else. My focus now, as it has always been, is on the future – one where our Party stands re-energised, inclusive, and better positioned to deliver on its promise to the Ghanaian people.” He has promised to engage more with Party faithfuls and the media, to share his vision, ideas, and plans to lead the NPP with integrity, transparency, and a renewed sense of purpose.
