The three candidates for mayor of Buffalo debated Thursday morning at St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute. The private high school has hosted an annual political debate for 41 years. Republican James Gardner, Democrat Sean Ryan and independent Michael Gainer are running to be the first newly elected mayor in Buffalo in 20 years. All three were hesitant to make any commitments on resisting federal policy, as it is out of the purview of city officials.
