The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Philadelphia Eagles are preparing to face off in a clash of undefeated teams this Sunday, and Baker Mayfield may be getting back a key weapon in Chris Godwin. Mike Evans, however, will be sidelined.
Still, in spite of the Buccaneers not being at full strength, Mayfield feels that Tampa Bay may have an advantage over the Eagles due to one major factor: the weather.

The heat and humidity in Tampa can be brutal, especially for a team like Philadelphia that is not accustomed to playing in such conditions. The Eagles are making some unique travel plans to try to combat the elements, but Mayfield does not feel that will help Jalen Hurts and company.
TAMPA, FLORIDA – SEPTEMBER 21: Baker Mayfield #6 of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers warms up prior to an NFL football game against the New York Jets at Raymond James Stadium on September 21, 2025 in Tampa, Florida.
“We’ll have a good game plan, obviously, to try and tire these guys out. Advantage for us, we’re in Tampa; the heat. They’re not used to that,” Mayfield told Mark Sanchez on the Rearview podcast. “I know there’s already been the stories that broke about them coming down to Tampa a day early. I don’t necessarily think that helps them. One day doesn’t get you acclimated to this humidity. I think, honestly, it makes them think about it more when they get down here earlier.”
Not exactly bulletin-board material, but definitely something to think about heading into this matchup.
Mayfield has been sensational thus far in 2025, throwing for 615 yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions while completing 61.6 percent of his passes and posting a 99.5 passer rating. His completion percentage can stand to be considerably better, but the fact that he is yet to throw a pick after tossing 16 last year is truly impressive.
The 30-year-old is now in his third season with the Buccaneers and made back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances during his first couple of seasons in Tampa Bay. Last year, he racked up 4,500 yards and 41 touchdown passes.

Meanwhile, Philly’s offense has certainly been inconsistent through the first three weeks, although it did show signs of a breakthrough during the second half of its win over the Los Angeles Rams last Sunday.
It will be interesting to see who emerges victorious in this potential NFC Championship Game preview.
