Buccaneers Get Concerning Bucky Irving Injury Update

In Week 4, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles. Additionally, their star running back, Bucky Irving, sustained an injury that could prevent him from playing in his team’s Week 5 game and beyond.

Irving’s left-leg injury occurred during the challenging Eagles game, although he continued playing through it, not realizing the severity of the injury at the time. Following the game, the injury was deemed more serious, and on Monday, the Bucs star underwent an MRI.

On Wednesday, Bucs beat reporter Rick Stroud indicated Irving wore a boot on his left foot and was using crutches to get around.

Along with that, Stroud mentioned that Mike Evans was still missing from practice, but Bucs linebacker Haason Reddick and defensive tackle Greg Gaines were present at the team’s practice.

In Week 5, the Buccaneers attempt to bounce back from a rough loss to the Eagles when they take on the Seattle Seahawks. However, being without two of their top offensive players is certainly concerning.

As of yesterday, Irving was gathering medical opinions about his injury situation, but he had not spoken directly to the media about it.

An Irving fumble during this past Sunday’s game against the Eagles raised some questions about whether he might have sprained his ankle. In a video clip of the play, Irving’s leg and foot bend awkwardly underneath the defender as he gets tackled.

The Bucs selected Irving last year as a fourth-round pick. In his rookie season, he participated in 17 regular-season games, with three starts, and finished with 1,122 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.

As of this writing, the Buccaneers haven’t disclosed the severity of Irving’s injury following his MRI results. They’ll likely rely on Rachaad White and Sean Tucker if their main running back is absent.
