Legendary broadcaster Bryant Gumbel was reportedly rushed to the hospital Monday evening after suffering a “medical emergency” at his Manhattan apartment. The 77-year-old former “Today” show cohost, who was hauled out of his apartment on a gurney and remained hospitalized on Tuesday, sources told TMZ. His exact condition and what he is being treated for is unclear. But a family member assured that Gumbel is “okay,” the outlet reported. Gumbel, who retired from broadcasting in 2023, previously battled lung cancer in 2009. He had blamed his cancer diagnosis on smoking three packs a day during his younger years. Gumbel was a staple on the NBC morning show for 15 years from 1982 to 1997. He was a longtime host of HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel” until the show ended two years ago.
