Legendary actor Bruce Willis has been battling frontotemporal dementia (FTD) since he was diagnosed back in 2023. While his condition has been worsening in recent months, that does not appear to be stopping him from maintaining at least a bit of an active lifestyle. The Die Hard actor’s wife, Emma Heming Willis, recently gave some heartbreaking updates about her husband, revealing that his brain is “failing him” and that he no longer lives in the family home. However, Willis was seen happy and upbeat in some recent photos with family, and he has recently been seen out in public. This week, the actor was even seen out walking on the beach despite his worsening condition. Willis’ Condition is Worsening Over the past several weeks, Emma Heming Willis has done several interviews explaining that her husband’s health is declining and his brain is “failing him.” His wife also explained that the actor is not actually aware of his condition, even as his health continues to decline. “The person doesn’t realize that they are experiencing a decline in their health. So it’s not denial; this is just a part of the disease,” Emma Heming Willis explained recently. “So, it’s a blessing and a curse. But I am grateful that Bruce never tapped into the idea that he had FTD.” Emma Heming Willis also explained that the Die Hard actor’s ability to speak has started to deteriorate. This forces him to communicate with loved ones and caretakers in other ways. “The language is going, and, you know, we’ve learned to adapt,” she said. “And we have a way of communicating with him, which is just a … different way.” Despite all of this, Emma Heming Willis clarified that he is still able to recognize his family members and loved ones, marking a distinction between his disorder and Alzheimer’s Disease. Willis Makes Public Appearance Given his worsening condition and the constant care he requires, the legendary actor does not make many appearances. However, this week, Willis was seen and photographed enjoying some fresh air on a beachside walk. “The 70-year-old Hollywood legend was as cool as ever in sunglasses and a baseball cap as he breathed in the fresh ocean air. His ensemble was made complete with a gray T-shirt, clean white sneakers and tan slacks,” TMZ wrote, sharing some photos of the legendary actor during his outing. “Bruce appears to be flourishing despite the 2023 diagnosis that he has a degenerative brain condition, frontotemporal dementia, or FTD.” Clearly, Willis was looking good despite his health battle. Willis is in Great Health, Physically It should come as no surprise that Willis looks so strong physically despite his condition, as Emma Heming Willis has maintained that her husband is actually in “great health” physically, even though his brain is “failing him.” “Bruce is still very mobile,” she said recently during an interview with Diane Sawyer of ABC News. “Bruce is in really great health overall, you know. It’s just his brain that is failing him.” Willis may not make many public appearances, but it’s not because he isn’t mobile or physically capable.
