BRS MLAs file their responses to ‘defected’ MLAs explanations

Former Minister G. Jagadish Reddy, along with other Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLAs K.P. Vivekanand and Chinta Prabhakar, submitted their responses to the Assembly Joint Secretary Upender Reddy, regarding the explanations given by MLAs who are facing allegations of quitting BRS and joining Congress.

Out of the 10 MLAs facing the charges of ‘defection’, eight filed their responses to the Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad’s notices based on the complaints lodged by the BRS MLAs. Those who submitted their responses are Pocharam Srinivas Reddy (Banswada), Krishna Mohan Reddy (Gadwal), Yadayya (Chevella), Tellam Venkata Rao (Bhadrachalam), Gudem Mahipal Reddy (Patancheru), and Dr. Sanjay (Jagtial). However, BRS MLAs Kadiyam Srihari and Danam Nagender, also facing disqualification complaints, did not submit rejoinders to the Speaker’s notices. Mr. Jagdish Reddy and others had earlier officially lodged a complaint with the Speaker seeking disqualification of ‘defected’ MLAs.

Later, speaking to the media in Hyderabad on Monday (September 15, 2025), Mr. Jagadish Reddy said the MLAs have betrayed people’s mandate, and they should be disqualified. Showing the pictures of the ‘defected’ MLAs with Congress leaders, he asked how they can claim innocence after openly participating in Congress party campaigns.

“If they really believed in KCR’s [BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao] leadership, why do they attend Congress events, share the stage with Rahul Gandhi, and publish advertisements with Congress leaders?” he asked. “These MLAs are caught red-handed, and by-elections in their constituencies are inevitable,” he said.
