The Brownsburg Fire Territory has recently showcased a fresh face among their ranks, introducing Recruit Ben Friedlander to the community in a social media post earlier today. As detailed on their official Facebook page, Friedlander comes to the department with a notably diverse background, having already served the community in various capacities before donning the firefighter's uniform. Before deciding to embark on the journey to become part of the Brownsburg Fire Territory, Friedlander engaged himself in several professions, among them an Activities Coordinator for a nursing home and a Wilderness Outfitter. He has experienced intense scenarios as a Ski Patrol EMT in Utah and worked with precision as a Lawn Irrigation Technician. It's recalled how, through each role, his drive to serve others was a common thread. Friedlander is a local to the area, born and raised in Greenwood, and an alumnus of Indiana University, after attending Center Grove High School. The Brownsburg Fire Territory's announcement quotes Friedlander's personal statement, saying, “I was born and raised in Greenwood. I attended Indiana University after graduating from Center Grove High School. I am passionate about serving others and being a positive presence in their lives, and I’m excited to continue to grow and apply this in the role of a Firefighter. In my free time I enjoy spending time with friends and family, fishing, hiking, biking, reading, and traveling to new places.” His broad spectrum of experiences is rounded out with his interests outside of work. Friedlander's dedication to living a balanced life also extends to personal hobbies that include fishing, hiking, biking, and reading, as well as valuing time to slowly travel and explore new locales. The Brownsburg Fire Territory appears just as eager to welcome Friedlander as he is to join, with their Facebook post concluding with a call for the public to "Help us welcome Recruit Friedlander!" Demonstrating the department's support, the post ends on a note of encouragement, beckoning Ben to "always bring that passion every single day!"
