The Cleveland Browns have been searching for a long-term quarterback option for far too long. Unfortunately, they had one and let him go in the form of Baker Mayfield, but the franchise still doesn’t have a solid answer. A new suggestion has been made for the Browns. It’s a suggestion that could change everything about the future in Cleveland. Dane Brugler and Nick Baumgardner of The Athletic believe that Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Ty Simpson could be the long-term answer the Browns have been needing to find. “Because of Simpson’s poise and execution, I’d bet the Browns’ coaching staff would gravitate toward the Alabama signal caller — assuming Kevin Stefanski is back as head coach,” they wrote. “Along with his smarts and intangibles, Simpson also has the athleticism that makes him a threat to extend plays, with both quick feet and quick eyes to help him find the open man without forcing throws.” Simpson has been flying up draft boards due to his level of play for Alabama this season. He’s a top-tier Heisman Trophy contender at this point in time. Throughout the course of the year leading up to this point, Simpson has completed 70.2 percent of his pass attempts for 1,931 yards, 18 touchdowns, and one interception. He has also picked up 66 yards and two touchdowns. Read more: Bills Could Invest Heavily Into Josh Allen With Trade for $92 Million WR It would be a very intriguing move for Cleveland to make. Simpson is far from a guarantee, but he has played extremely well so far this season for the Crimson Tide. Expect to hear a lot more speculation about what the Browns’ future holds at quarterback.
