Browns’ Kevin Stefanski Linked to New Head-Coaching Job

Things have been an abject disaster in Cleveland this season, and it’s very possible Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski could be looking for a new job once the season sends. Stefanski’s Browns are 2-7 this season, and fans are calling for his dismissal because of his refusal to start rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders over struggling rookie Dillon Gabriel, who is just 1-4 since taking over as the starter after Joe Flacco was traded to the Cincinnati Bengals. It’s possible the Browns may be drafting their next franchise quarterback in the top 10 of the 2026 NFL draft, and if they do, it makes sense to let a new head coach pick his guy if the organization does choose to hit the reset button. He’s an outstanding coach, two-time Coach of the Year. I understand people in Cleveland are like, ‘This guy can’t coach,’ but there’s a lot of empirical data that would say otherwise. “… I would go Kevin Stefanski, I would go Jesse Minter, the defensive coordinator with the Chargers, I would entertain Jon Gruden and maybe Matt Nagy in Kansas City, but I would pay attention to see what’s going on in Cleveland.” More Football: Ex-1,000-Yard WR Rejected Trade to Play With Aaron Rodgers, Steelers: Report Daboll was fired following Sunday’s 24-20 loss to the Chicago Bears. He had a 20-40-1 record in three-plus seasons and never finished better than third in the NFC East. Conversely, Stefanski is 42-51 in six-and-a-half seasons with the Browns, but he did lead them to two 11-win seasons and two playoff appearances. Given his background as a former quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator with the Minnesota Vikings, Stefanski is an intriguing option for New York to work with rookie QB Jaxson Dart and rookie running back Cam Skattebo. “This is a difficult spot for the Giants because there’s no question they need to get a guy that’s going to bring rh best out of Jaxson Dart,” Orlovsky added. “But it’s also when the Giants have been at their best, it’s been under a coach like a (Bill) Parcells or Tom Coughlin — a defensive-minded, hard-nosed disciplinarian, tough, it fits the culture…so I would try to find the balance.”
