DENVER (KDVR) — The Denver Broncos battered the Dallas Cowboys, 44-24, on Sunday, but several Broncos players got battered in the win, with injuries to key players now set to play a part in the Broncos' upcoming games. The news that absolutely no Broncos fan wants to hear is that star cornerback and reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Patrick Surtain II, will miss four to six weeks with a pectoral injury, according to a post on X from NFL Insider Jordan Schultz. Schultz also provided some type of silver lining, stating that Surtain does not require surgery, and he is going to get a second opinion at some point this week to confirm if the report for the expected time missed is accurate. Another player to keep an eye on is Broncos Pro Bowl wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr., who entered the NFL's concussion protocol following the game against the Cowboys. The protocol is five phases, including: Several other players suffered injuries or near-injuries. Tight end Nate Adkins suffered a knee injury, and tight end Lucas Krull is set to undergo surgery on his foot this week. Surtain's injury is already bad enough, but Broncos fans might have thought the defense was going to take another huge blow when star defensive lineman Zach Allen exited the game to receive treatment from the team's medical personnel. Allen returned to the game, and no injury has been officially reported, but it is something to keep an eye on. Coach Sean Payton is following the next man up mindset, and said in a press conference that young corner Kris Abrams-Draine is ready to fill the void left by Surtain.
