A rockstar has died at the age 47. Scott Sorry, who was a member of the English rock band The Wildhearts, died on Thursday (October 30), which was his birthday. The US musician, real name Gerard Scott, had been diagnosed with a type of brain cancer Glioblastoma back in 2018. His loved ones announced his passing in a heartfelt tribute on social media, declaring they were "devastated beyond words". They said he died after a "long and incredibly brave" fight with the cancer. The statement read: "We’re heartbroken to share that Scott Sorry has passed away after a long and incredibly brave fight with brain cancer. Scott passed away on his 47th birthday, October 30th, 2025. "After being diagnosed with Glioblastoma back in 2018, Scott refused to let it define him. He outlived every Doctors expectation, turning months into years, and even made it back to the UK in 2022 for a tour — something that meant the world to him. They continued: "He was so grateful to be able to play again, to see so many familiar faces and to personally thank so many of you that had supported him through it all. "We’re devastated beyond words, but there’s comfort in knowing he’s finally free from pain. His strength, humour, and heart will stay with us forever." Scott joined The Wildhearts in 2006. He recorded the band's self-titled 2007 album as well as a covers record the following year and Citzpah! in 2009. He re-joined The Wildhearts in 2014 for their UK tour after a break due to family commitments. The star is survived by wife Hanni and his three children, River, Ryder and Rörik. The group have played at festivals such as Download, Reading, 2000 Trees, and Monsters of Rock during their career. They also supported the likes of The Darkness and their most successful album was P.H.U.Q (1995) which reached number six in the UK Albums Chart. Scott was diagnosed with another tumour in January 2024 and he underwent surgery in March of that year. He also had radiation and six months of chemotherapy. In November, it appeared no further growth or change to the tumour, but another tumour was discovered behind his eye which was inoperable. He lost the use of his right arm and right leg and suffered with his speech. Sorry kept fans updated on his health battles in humorous fashion. In 2021, he reflected on his 2018 diagnosis, writing: "Today makes 3 years that they took that little b*****d out of my head… 3 years later I’m training to race up Mt. Washington. "I’m a lucky man and that is not lost on me in the least. Get out… live your life… love your life… create… take chances… don’t waste it. Onwards and Upwards y’all. Much Love x." Sorry shared his love for the band in a 2016 interview with The Midlands Rocks. He said: "I feel like I am to this day a Wildheart. They are my brothers and I was never treated like a “side guy”. "I wrote a lot, I sang a lot…I was really accepted into a dysfunctional as f*** family." Have you joined Threads? Follow Daily Star to keep up to date on all things showbiz here.
