Our country experienced another politically motivated act of violence. The assassination of Charlie Kirk comes on the heels of a shooting spree that killed Minnesota State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark; the shooting of Minnesota State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, and the attempted assassination of Gov. Josh Shapiro and his family.
There are additional incidents. They come from both sides of the political spectrum and are stark reminders of the dire consequences of political polarization.
In times like this, Braver Angels provides a beacon of hope. Our organization is a national grassroots citizens movement dedicated to depolarizing politics by bringing people from across the political spectrum together for respectful and civil dialogue.
We are not about changing minds and believe differing political views are part of what make our country great. Through community forums, structured debates, and workshops, Braver Angels reminds us that although we may disagree politically, we still share many common values, including living in a country where we can freely and safely express our views.
We encourage readers to check out BraverAngels.org and consider one of our free programs, some of which are offered locally and can be accessed on the events calendar.
Last year, over 550 participants attended our local events and demand continues to grow. By coming together with courage and empathy, we can honor the memory of those we have lost and work to create a more peaceful and united future. We invite you to take that first step with us.
