Bridget Moynahan and Chris Noth may have played a married couple on Sex and the City, though the actress recently revealed he would introduce himself to her each time they worked together on the beloved show.
While appearing on the Monday, October 6, episode of Kristin Davis‘ “Are You a Charlotte?” podcast, Moynahan, 54, recalled making her SATC debut during season 2 in 1999.
“Then you go off and do Coyote Ugly. Then you come back third season,” Davis, 60, explained of Moynahan’s timeline on the show.
Davis, who starred on the show as Charlotte York, then wondered if the producers “would just call” Moynahan and ask about her availability. “So, you were just doing [episodes] one by one?” she asked.
Moynahan responded by calling her role as Natasha a “day player,” explaining that producers would call her ahead of each episode she would appear on. Due to her inconsistency on the show, it seems that Noth, 70, had a hard time recalling who she was in between episodes.
“Every time Chris Noth would be like, ‘Hi, nice to meet you,’” Moynahan said. “[I was] like, ‘Dude, I’m your wife.’”
Davis couldn’t hold back her laughter about Noth, who played Mr. Big throughout the series, forgetting the actress who played his wife on the show. “Oh, my God, that is classic,” Davis responded.
Moynahan went on to joke that Noth did eventually learn who she and her character were after she exited the show.
“I love Chris,” Moynahan said. “Years later we’d bump into each other in California. He’s like, ‘And there’s my wife.’ I’m like, ‘You couldn’t remember I was your wife when I was your wife. Now I’m not your wife.’”
Davis then explained that Noth “was weirdly in the moment in weird ways,” so she believed that he would be forgetful about his own TV wife.
Moynahan made her SATC debut as Natasha during season 2. Following his romance with protagonist Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Big got engaged to Natasha after five months of dating. Carrie was caught off guard to learn that Big was engaged after insisting he would never settle down after his first marriage ended.
While playing Carrie’s best friend on the show, Davis admitted she let her character’s negative feelings about Natasha cloud her own judgment of Moynahan.
“I remember I was in the trailer for a really long time. … And then I had to go out into this massive party,” Moynahan said of filming her first scene, which was shot during a beach party in the Hamptons. “Yes, it was scary for me.”

Davis said she understood Moynahan’s concerns. “Normally, what I would do for guest star people, which were usually men, I would go and try to kinda proactively be friendly because it is such a scary situation,” she said, noting that she viewed Moynahan as “the nemesis” because of how the main cast thought of her character.
“I don’t think I was that nice to you,” Davis told Moynahan. “I feel really bad about that, Bridget. I felt really bad because we were all young-ish. You were new. I just feel bad.”
While Davis was remorseful, Moynahan insisted she shouldn’t have to “worry” about it.
