Cardiff City boss Brian Barry-Murphy didn’t hold back after his side suffered a late 1-0 defeat by Bolton Wanderers, admitting their attacking play was “very poor” and not nearly clinical enough. The Bluebirds looked set to leave the Toughsheet Community Stadium with a point before Amario Cozier-Duberry struck a stunning 94th-minute winner, the only shot on target of the entire game. “It was a very disappointing goal from our point of view, when it comes so late and you can’t do anything about it,” Barry-Murphy said after the game. “When something like that happens, it’s obviously a very disappointing day for us all. “I think Bolton are a team who are going to be at the top of the table for a reason. They’re a very good side and were dangerous when they broke on us after we gave the ball away in certain areas. “Large parts of our game were OK, we got towards the final third pretty easily, and they paid us a lot of respect in terms of how they pressed us. But our final product, in terms of creating and getting into shooting areas, was very poor. “When you don’t have enough attacking momentum or create enough chances, you’re always in danger of conceding a goal like we did. Today that was the case.” Cardiff dominated possession but failed to truly test Bolton goalkeeper Teddy Sharman-Lowe, understandably leaving Barry-Murphy frustrated by his team’s lack of cutting edge. “For as much possession as we had, we didn’t create enough chances close to their goal or enough shooting opportunities,” he added. “To have such little impact on the keeper is disappointing and something we’re very conscious of. “When you concede a goal in those circumstances, it’s sickening. But there’ll be no blame culture in that dressing room, we take responsibility and make it better. We have to be really clear on how we improve to turn that possession into meaningful chances and goals.” The Cardiff boss also confirmed a fresh injury setback for forward Chris Willock, who missed the game after picking up a quad issue in training on Friday. “Chris was injured in training yesterday,” Barry-Murphy revealed. “He’s had a scan today. It’s the same issue he had before the international break. He played last week against Reading but couldn’t complete training yesterday, so we’ll have to watch this space.” There were some positives, however, with Alex Robertson handed his first start of the season following injury and Joel Bagan impressing again before being forced off late on. “It’s really good to have Alex Robertson back involved,” Barry-Murphy said. “He had a really positive impact on our performance and will be satisfied with his first game back. "I think Joel Bagan had a hip injury, so he had to come off and will be assessed.” --- *Follow all of our social channels to ensure you stay up to date with the latest Bluebirds news.
