Liverpool will play Brentford in the Premier League at an unusual kickoff time this coming weekend - and the reason has now emerged. During Jurgen Klopp's tenure, the Reds were the broadcasters' go-to pick for the Saturday lunchtime slot, a decision that frequently drew the German’s ire during several heated flashpoints across his nine-year reign. But Klopp would likely have his laughter caught in his throat and twist into a sob when seeing the Premier League champions’ next kickoff slot. TNT Sports will lead coverage for Liverpool’s trip to the Gtech Community Stadium - a rare 8pm Saturday kickoff, rather than the traditional 12:30pm start. Arne Slot's side will be desperate to find some success in an otherwise sobering month that has seen them lose four consecutive games for the first time since November 2014, back when Brendan Rodgers was in charge. A 2-1 home defeat to Manchester United was, by some distance, their worst result of the Slot era - but they’ll be grateful their next league outing doesn’t come until Saturday evening. Why Liverpool Play Brentford At 8pm on Saturday Night Brentford vs Liverpool will not take place at the usual Saturday lunchtime slot due to the Reds’ Champions League commitments. The match was originally selected for live coverage on TNT Sports back in August, but with Liverpool scheduled to face Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany on Wednesday night, the fixture has since been pushed back. The occasion will be marked by several reunions between familiar faces on both sides. Among those now plying their trade in west London after successful spells at Anfield are Caoimhin Kelleher - the penalty hero who famously won four shootouts during his time with the Reds - and Jordan Henderson, who left in 2023 for Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq after captaining Liverpool to Champions League and Premier League glory, among many other honours. The Bees' clash with Liverpool is not the only Premier League fixture this weekend which has been rescheduled due to European action, though. A further three matches were moved to 2pm on Sunday as a result of sides playing on Thursday night. Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest's games against Manchester City and Bournemouth, respectively, have been moved due to their Europa League fixtures three days earlier. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace visit Arsenal on Sunday after hosting AEK Larnaca in the Conference League in midweek. West Ham Face Leeds United on Friday Night West Ham currently sit 19th in the table, having managed just one win, one draw, and six defeats so far - but there’s no rest for Nuno Espirito Santo in his mission to restore order at the London Stadium. Just five days after their 2-0 home loss to Brentford on Monday Night Football, the Hammers are back in action at Elland Road against Leeds United to kick off Gameweek Nine. Both fixtures - against Brentford and Leeds - were selected for live broadcast on Sky Sports. As a result, they were moved from their original 3pm Saturday kick-offs to new time slots. Sky Sports’ rights deal covers matches on Friday and Monday nights, and with neither West Ham nor their opponents involved in European competition, it made sense to schedule them twice within five days - still offering more rest than sides juggling midweek fixtures in Europe.
