BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo will host its annual Boo at the Zoo celebration Oct. 18-19 and 25-26, featuring festive activities, live entertainment and seasonal treats.
The event will run from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with last entry at 4 p.m. at the zoo, 3000 Zoo Circle (via 13350 La. 19). Enter through Greenwood Park.
Regular zoo admission rates apply. Members are admitted free. Zoo members are encouraged to renew memberships online before the event.
“Boo at the Zoo is one of our longest-standing traditions, bringing the community together for a safe and fun way to celebrate Halloween,” said Zoo Director Jim Fleshman. “This year, we’ve added exciting new features while continuing the favorites families look forward to every fall.”
Highlights will include photo opportunities, face painting, animal enrichments and shows, haunted maze and pumpkin patch and treats for children 12 and under (no outside candy buckets permitted). Other activities include:
Noon to 2 p.m.: Petite Princess characters (different characters daily, check website for details)
10 a.m., Noon, 2 p.m.: The Dinosaur Experience
11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m.: Magic show
Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes and tag the zoo in photos on social media
Food and refreshments will be available for purchase at the Flamingo Café and the Boo at the Zoo food court. Vendors include Sweet Honey Lemony (lemonade), Dr. Flavas (Louisiana kitchen), Kona Ice (snoballs), Rice and Roux (jambalaya, gumbo, boudin), The Funnel Factory (funnel cakes), E’s Exotic Snowballs (cotton candy) and Hungry Howie’s Pizza
