Kano state -The 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has listed conditions for rejoining the All Progressives Congress (APC)
Kwankwaso declared that his party is open to joining the APC but only on what he described as “strong promises.”
As reported by Daily Trust, Kwankwaso made this known while receiving Buhari Bakwana, a former political adviser to ex-Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
He recounted how he and other key figures played a central role in founding the APC in 2013.
According to Kwakwanso, they bore the brunt of political persecution from ICPC, EFCC, and the police in the process.
“Nobody in the country will tell me the burden we took in creating APC. We were the ones who led the creation of the party, and we were the first set of seven governors to declare support for it. ICPC, EFCC, and the police were all used against me then, just to stop our plans.”
He said the APC must spell out tangible benefits the NNPP will gain from joining the ruling party if they want them to work together.
Kwankwaso said the NNPP is willing to engage the APC in fresh negotiations, but would not allow itself to be used and dumped.
If you are asking us to join APC, you must tell us what NNPP will gain. We have gubernatorial candidates in all the states and full structures nationwide. What will you offer them if we join?”
“We are ready to join the APC under strong conditions and promises. We will not allow anyone to use us and later dump us.

Legit.ng reports that there is a sentiment in some quarters for a southerner to retain the presidency in 2027.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other political stakeholders are likely watching closely as the 2027 election approaches.
