The moment four women sneakily entered a bridal store in Glasgow city centre and stole two wedding dresses has been caught on CCTV.
The brazen thieves can be seen entering Brides in the City, on St George’s Road near Charing Cross, at around 2.26pm on Monday, September 22. The first woman to enter appears to place her finger to her lips, gesturing ‘shhh’.
The foursome can be seen sniggering as they bundle two dresses into one’s arms before running off.
A brave staff member followed the group and with the help of a member of the public was able to retrieve the stolen dresses. An unknown man is said to have stood in the way of the thieves as they tried to make off.
Staff say when confronted their attitude was “appalling”, saying they “went as far as to smirk” before admitting they “did not care that the police were being called”.
The Brides in the City team are now warning other city centre stores and business owners after they were left “disheartened and frustrated” following the ordeal.
Writing on social media they said: “It’s extremely disheartening and frustrating when this happens to your business when you pour your heart and soul into everything you do and someone feels like they can take part of that with no repercussions.”
Locals were also left outraged by the incident, one commented: “Hope these girls get caught this is absolutely disgusting”, another added: “Nuts! Bold as day! Well done to the staff member being brave enough to get them back”.
Police Scotland has been approached for comment.
