More tributes have been left by mourners outside Ricky Hatton’s home following his tragic death aged 46. The boxing icon was tragically found dead at his home in Gee Cross, Hyde, on Sunday morning (September 14).
The 46-year-old, born in Stockport and raised in Hattersley, won an army of fans during his glittering career – winning world titles in two weight divisions in the 2000s.
Officers were called by a member of the public to attend Bowlacre Road in Hyde where Ricky was sadly found dead.

Since his death, tributes have poured in for the star with figures from the world of sport and celebrity all paying their respects. The news sparked an outpouring of grief and brought a small tide of flowers, candles, football shirts and boxing gloves to the gates of his home.
New pictures taken from outside his Gee Cross home show sports t-shirts with ‘RIP Rick’ penned on them, along with handwritten tributes, bunches of flowers, teddies and boxing gloves, one of which reads: “Ricky Hatton The Legend.”
His family previously paid a moving tribute to a ‘beloved son’ with ‘a heart as big as his smile’. “To us he was simply ‘Richard’, our son,” a statement said.
“A loving father, grandfather, and brother, and a true friend to many. He had a heart as big as his smile, and his kindness, humour and loyalty touched everyone who was lucky enough to know him.”

On Monday (September 15), the mood in Hatton’s hometown of Hyde was sombre following the news of his passing. The Manchester Evening News spoke to to locals about their memories of the town’s most famous son.
