Boston Insider Announces Jayson Tatum Rehab Update as Celtics Face Key Roster Decision

Jayson Tatum is still a long way from returning. But his recovery mindset is already making waves. According to a report from Zolak and Bertrand on 98.5 The Sports Hub, Tatum has stayed in Boston since the injury and is treating rehab like a full-time job.
Tatum tore his Achilles tendon on May 12 against the Knicks. Hours later, he had surgery. By July, he was in the pool, and by August, out of the boot. “The Celtics are very happy with how hard Jayson Tatum has been working at his rehab… he did not leave town. He’s been here [Boston] the entire time,” co-host Marc Bertrand said. “He’s been inside the building… almost every single day for months,” Bertrand added.
Joe Mazzulla confirmed the same over dinner with the show’s hosts. Ian Inangelo posted the quote on X with the caption: Exclusive Jayson Tatum report from Zolak and Bertrand on WEEI.

While Boston enters a transitional year, Tatum’s commitment is not in question. His grind is real; however, the timeline remains unknown. But the franchise cornerstone clearly isn’t coasting. Meanwhile, the Celtics are evaluating their short-term core, and Anfernee Simons remains a key question mark. He’s on an expiring deal and has been floated in trade talks. Boston could use his shooting, but cap space matters. The front office has a decision to make: either to commit or move on.
