A nonprofit will look to provide therapeutic art experiences through the power of art at a Bay Area arts and culture fest.
SAN MATEO, CA — A nonprofit dedicated to harnessing the healing power of the arts to help children face cancer, will be setting up an interactive art booth Sunday at the second annual arts and culture festival in San Mateo.
San Mateo’s September Arts and Culture Festival is a free event from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday open to the public in downtown San Mateo. Attendees can enjoy a variety of activities, including performances by local musicians and cultural groups, a poetry corner, and the “Mural Madness” live mural competition. The festival also features artists and craft-makers, international cuisine, and a selection of wine and beer.
At the festival, the Kids & Art Foundation will host an interactive art booth at the second Annual San Mateo’s September Arts and Culture Festival.
“We’re excited to bring hands-on art activities to children attending the San Mateo Arts and Culture Fest,” Debra Braun, CEO, Kids & Art Foundation, told Patch. “We believe in the healing power of creativity, and we look forward to sharing how art brings comfort and connection to children facing cancer and their families, and how everyone who attends can join in that healing process.”
Kids & Art invites the community to free art activities for all ages. Participants can learn more about the nonprofit’s mission to support pediatric cancer patients and their families. Through therapeutic art experiences, Kids & Art aims to inspire hope and healing.
In September, Kids & Art Foundation stated they are dedicated to acknowledging Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. This commitment is part of its month-long effort to offer art experiences throughout the Bay Area.
Founded in 2008, the Kids & Art Foundation helps children with cancer and their families through art-based programs. These free programs, designed by professional artists, offer creative respite in hospitals, online, and in various sessions, alleviating stress and providing a healing path through imagination.
