Bongo: Assemblyman appeals for improved roads in Sambolgo-Abokobisi electoral area

The Assembly Member for the Sambolgo-Abokobisi Electoral Area in the Bongo District, Luke Ayamga, has appealed to government to prioritize the construction of access roads in the community to boost trade, education, and healthcare delivery.

Speaking on Bolga FM’s Tingmaalgo Sanga on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, Mr. Ayamga said the poor road network linking Sambolgo-Abokobisi to the Namoo border town continues to stifle economic potential despite the area’s proximity to Burkina Faso.

“Our community is just a short distance from Burkina Faso. Look at Paga—because of its good roads, businesses thrive every day. But here in Namoo, the roads are in a deplorable state. Traders, students, and healthcare workers struggle to use them. This situation is pushing away investors who could have created jobs for our youth and generated revenue for the district,” he lamented.

Ayamga emphasized that improving road connectivity would open up the area to commerce and attract more businesses. “Good roads will not only bring investors but also ensure that our young people find opportunities right here instead of leaving the community,” he noted.

He also highlighted the growing educational institutions in the area, including Aze-Nasco Senior High School and Regentropfen University College (RUC), whose students rely on the same deteriorated roads. “Namoo has grown. We now have a senior high school and even a university, yet students and lecturers have to commute on bad roads every day. Government must intervene to support education and development in this border community,” he appealed.

Despite the community’s business prospects and educational growth, Mr. Ayamga said Sambolgo-Abokobisi has long been neglected in terms of road infrastructure. He stressed that timely intervention would not only improve the lives of residents but also strengthen cross-border trade with Burkina Faso.
