The Bank of Ghana has announced a significant increase in the biennial licence renewal fee for all licensed foreign exchange bureaux across the country from GH¢800 to GH¢2,000. The increase in license renewal fee represents a 150% hike. In a press release sighted by GhanaWeb Business, the central bank explained that the upward review is part of broader regulatory reforms aimed at strengthening oversight and ensuring the long-term sustainability of operations within the foreign exchange sector. Cedi still selling at GH¢10.85 to $1 The bank reminded all foreign exchange bureaux to renew their licenses at least two months before expiry, in accordance with Section 10 of the Foreign Exchange Act, 2006 (Act 723) and Paragraph 8 of BoG Notice No. BG/GOV/SEC/2003/2 under the Revised Forex Bureau Regulations. “The Bank of Ghana wishes to inform all licensed Foreign Exchange Bureaux (FEBs) that the biennial licence renewal fee for FEBs has been revised upwards from GH¢800.00 to GH¢2,000.00. The revision is part of ongoing reforms to strengthen the regulatory oversight of the Bank of Ghana and to ensure sustainability of operations in the sector,” part of the statement read.
