Bodycare confirms final 56 stores closing this week - full list of locations

Bodycare has confirmed that its remaining 56 shops will close permanently by this Saturday, and the complete list of locations has now been revealed. This final round of closures is expected to lead to 444 job losses and comes after the beauty retailer entered administration earlier this month.

Bodycare initially revealed the immediate shutdown of 32 outlets and, just days later, announced that 30 more shops would also be shutting permanently. The complete list of new closures, alongside those already shut, can be found below.

Bodycare had appointed advisors at Interpath to handle its administration proceedings, but a purchaser for its outlets has not yet been located. According to the Mirror, Nick Holloway, managing director at Interpath and joint administrator, said: “We understand this has been a difficult period and so we want to further express our sincere thanks to Bodycare’s staff who, since day one of the administration, have maintained the strong standards of presentation and customer service that Bodycare was renowned for.

“We will continue to explore options for the company’s assets, including the Bodycare brand, and will provide further updates in due course.”

Founded in 1970 on a Lancashire market stall by Graham and Margaret Blackledge, Bodycare has been under the ownership of Baaj Capital since 2021. The chain sells products from well-known beauty brands, including L’Oreal, Nivea, and Elizabeth Arden.

These closures are just the latest in a string of high street losses, with Poundland recently being snapped up by private equity firm Gordon Brothers for a mere £1. The budget chain initially revealed plans to close 68 stores, but in the most recent update, Poundland announced that 11 of these closures have been temporarily put on hold.

Poundland stated that its overall expectation that, as leases expire, the number of its stores will decrease to approximately 650 to 700 stores remains unchanged. At the beginning of its restructuring process, Poundland boasted 800 branches.

In other news, Claire’s appointed administrators for its UK and Ireland business last month after filing for bankruptcy in the US. The administrators at advisory firm Interpath have since been in talks with potential buyers about a possible sale to secure the chain’s future on British high streets.
